Niki was born in 1952 in Zimbabwe & raised there. Her decision to follow her passion in art (following in her artist father's footsteps) commenced in the early 2000's after a busy career in international trading & nurturing a family.
Niki specialises in the Crosshatch technique, applying ink on paper using an Isograph technical pen working with a 0.18mm and 0.10mm nib.
She was particularly influenced & inspired by the early sketchings of the 15th & 16th century grand masters, and these laid the foundation to her chosen medium today. With her great technical ability & natural perception of tonal value and contrast, she has been able to perfect her own unique style for creating realism, often finished with a 3D effect.
Niki has exhibited in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Zimbabwe. She has completed commissions for Germany, The Nerherlands and USA and there are private collections of her works worldwide.
Niki lives & works in Gouritsmond in the Western Cape, South Africa. In addition to her art she is a keen outdoor enthusiast & is a regular kayaker, mountain biker, hiker & harmonica player.
